Cedaredge, Colorado
One of the prettiest towns in Western Colorado from its incorporation in 1907, Cedaredge was named by Sophie Kohler, wife of the 1860's Bar-I-Cattle Ranch foreman who identified their location as "The Edge of the Cedars."
The name Cedaredge was used when the post office became official in 1894. Located at the southern edge of Grand Mesa, Cedaredge is blessed with some of the mildest weather in Colorado. Due to this, one can find apples peaches, cherries, pears and even wine grapes growing throughout the region.
In town there are restaurants, gift and antique stores, a music store, an art complex named the Apple Shed, and lodging. The Deer Creek Village Golf Club and Community offer a perfect place to enjoy the day. Medical clinics abound and there is a rehabilitation center as well.
Grand Mesa towards the north provides a local ski area known as Powderhorn. In the Grand Mesa National Forest there is excellent hiking, camping, fishing, mountain biking as well as hunting in the fall.
Cedaredge also is only a short distance from Delta in order to utilize the hospital and other amenities.
