Hotchkiss, Colorado

Described as the friendliest town around, Hotchkiss first settlers were enterprising men who started the first bank, stores, hotel, stage delivery company and livery farm incorporating as early as 1900.

Cattle and sheep farming, fruit growing and coal mining were the main occupations from the very beginning. Hotchkiss continues to retain the same types of occupations in these modern times; however, there are now beautiful gift stores and antique shops, a Pilate's studio, a Spa, coffee shops, restaurants, and excellent service businesses of the highest quality such as dentists, attorneys, an optometrist, and much more.

Forbes magazine did an article in 2006 on the North Fork Valley naming the distance between Hotchkiss, Paonia and Crawford the Golden Triangle. Known for the beautiful views, idyllic small town charm and excellent real estate values, Forbes indicated that this region was ideal to invest in.

The Delta County Fairgrounds is located in Hotchkiss and also becomes an event location for sheep trials, bluegrass festivals and the county fair itself. Talented quilt makers and other artisans are appreciated in this community through the fair, art galleries and other stores.
